Participating in design critiques is a vital aspect of my education, and it has been both challenging and rewarding. During my first critique, I presented a logo design I had created for a nonprofit organization. The feedback was intense, and I felt vulnerable sharing my work.
However, I quickly learned the value of constructive criticism. My classmates and instructors offered diverse perspectives, highlighting aspects I hadn’t considered, such as cultural sensitivity and scalability. This feedback prompted me to reevaluate my design choices and refine my work. Over time, I began to see critiques not as personal attacks but as opportunities for growth and improvement. Engaging in discussions about design principles and theories deepened my understanding of the subject. I realized that every critique is a chance to learn and develop as a designer. Now, I actively seek feedback on my projects, knowing it will ultimately strengthen my skills and enhance my portfolio.
